Asian Fish, Miso Noodles and Crunchy Veg

Meal 111 - December 21st - Asian Fish, Miso Noodles and Crunchy Veg

So after pigging out for lunch on our camembert parcels, Lolz decided that it would make sense to go for something a bit healthier for dinner and, having downgraded her seafood fussiness from all seafood to just shellfish, decided that this Asian fish number might fit the bill. It was a brave choice as, aside from being quite calorific when you actually look at the small print, it looked kind of weird in the picture. The fish looked greasy and wet and slimy and generally unappetizing.

We went for cod alongside the salmon and the first job is to flavour it with some sesame oil, honey, lime zest and sesame seeds and chuck it in the oven. You then cook the noodles in a kind of miso broth and pile the raw veg on top when they are cooked. That's it - there's no mess, no fuss, no problems. It's one of easiest, most kitchen-friendly (in that it did not look like a bomb had gone off in there) dishes I've done so far.

And guess what - it tastes a lot better than it looks. The fish is sweet and tangy and moist, the noodles take on a good bit of miso flavour and the veg is, well, crunchy. It's really 15 minute meals at it's best - straightforward, reasonably priced ingredients, easy cooking and no mess.

Lolz gave the dish a surprising 9/10. Difficulty rating 1/10.

This is one of my shortest posts so allow me to pad it out with some bad Christmas jokes:
What does Santa suffer from if he gets stuck in a chimney? Claustrophobia
What does Santa do with fat elves? He sends them to an Elf Farm
What do you call Santa's little helpers? Subordinate clauses
Who hides in the bakery at Christmas? A mince spy
What happened to the man who stole an Advent Calendar? He got 25 days
