Meal 116 - December 29th - Avo and Crispy Pancetta
Yesterday's shopping trip (well more of a pub trip actually with a quick diversion to Waitrose) may have yielded all the required ingredients for the pork taco meal, but sadly my luck ran out for this, my final breakfast. Normally it's avocado which proves to be my downfall but today it was pancetta that was nowhere to be found. Shame because it seems to be a fairly crucial component here.
We were headed to the meantime brewery though this afternoon though for a tour (a Christmas gift from Lolz, along with the book 1001 beers you must try before you die - maybe next years blog) and so a good hearty breakfast would be required, as I've heard that Meantime are quite generous when it come to giving out free samples. We opted for some good quality smoked streaky bacon instead and hoped that that would see us through.
For once the avocados were perfect - ripe and a nice vibrant green - and given that bad avocados were the only thing that could really let this meal down, I was confident that it would be a success. It got prepared very quickly and to be honest, was eaten very quickly too, as it was delicious. These breakfasts haven't always been very successful, and even those that have don't really get much attention, but all these "avocado four ways" breakfasts have been resoundingly fantastic in a straightforward kind of way. My blog may nearly be finished but I'll be continuing to make all of these long into the future...
Lolz gave the meal 9/10. Difficulty rating 1/10.
