Meal 119 - January 4th - Mixed Fish Grill, Mediterranean Fennel & Couscous
So this is it - the end. I don't really know what to say - my writing talents were never exactly Shakespearean in the first place but I'm a bit lost for words. I feel I should thank my family, and possibly Jesus for their love and support over the last 12 months. To the readers of my blog, thank you - without you, what really would have been the point? Jamie Oliver - he will almost certainly never read this blog, but he has been the inspiration to it all. And of course Lolz - without her washing up skills, and her, ahem, honest comments and criticisms I would never have seen it through January, let alone December.

Tapas Bruschetta, Golden Grilled Sardines
Meal 54 - June 23rd - Tapas Bruschetta, Golden Grilled Sardines
Here in England, we play a game called cricket. Basically, the bowler hurls the ball toward the batter who tries to play away a fine leg. He endeavours to score by dashing between the creases, provided the wicket keeper hasn’t whipped his bails off. Games can last for up to 5 days, so the players break for tea in the mid afternoon, during which they traditionally eat cucumber sandwiches. Today England are competing in a rare final (well they will be if the bloody rain stops!) and so what better occasion to break out this very summery looking DIY type open sandwich thingy? There may not be any cucumber involved but the picnicy element is very cricket friendly.

Mighty Mackerel, Mixed Tomato and Quinoa Salad
Meal 44 - May 15th - Mighty Mackerel, Mixed Tomato and Quinoa Salad
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a grain like crop, grown primarily for it's edible seeds. I am of course talking about quinoa, the nature of which I was as clueless about as it's pronunciation. I am exaggerating of course - eating quinoa is a crucial rite of passage for all middle class wannabes and although I had never tried it before, I knew that it was basically a posher variety of cous cous.
